I live in Adlington, Lancashire with my husband, our 5-year-old and our Labrador-Golden Retriever cross. I'm an avid collector of old photo postcards and glass beer bottles, and am happiest knee deep in old documents with my mind 200 years in the past. I have a passion for this field, and this can be seen in the quality of my work.
I first became interested in genealogy as a child, when I found a beautiful hand drawn tree that my dad had made as a teen. There wasn’t too much I could do in the pre-internet days, as pocket money didn’t really stretch to expensive birth, marriage and death certificates. However, my student overdraft certainly made up for that a few years later!
As most of my ancestors are from the Lancashire villages around where I grew up, and still live today, this interest in genealogy fed into local history, helping to establish the bigger picture of our ancestors' lives. I have since set up a local heritage society, and assist at the local family history group.
After spending years doing family and local history research for fun, a few years ago I decided I would love do this for a career. I began an MSc in Genealogy, and I have now since completed the Postgraduate Diploma.
